Atom. Best open source code editor.

I might have lied a little bit. I am not sure if Atom is in fact the best open source code editor. It is very, very good though.

I wanted to take a moment away from our irregularly scheduled Laravel 5 tutorials and introduce this awesome tool to you. Following lessons will require that you have a tool like this installed because TextEdit is just not going to cut it.

Atom is built using HTML and JavaScript and runs in Chromium container. Because of this it is very easy to make changes and add functionality that you need. There even is a vast repository of packages already created by others.

Obviously there are other really good editors out there and you should use whatever you like. I recommend Atom if you currently don’t have an editor because it is free, it is very good, and it is actively maintained. Oh, did I mention that it is free?
